Spring has sprung and with the season changing comes all sorts of strange skin happenings – at least for me. If your skin needs a little spring cleaning to brighten it up and face the new season, try this simple at-home face mask. You’re likely to have just about everything you need already in your kitchen.
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons finely ground almonds
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
Mix everything together. Rub gently onto face for 1-2 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
And voila! Brighter, cleaner skin.
How does it work, you ask?
Yogurt contains high amounts of Lactic Acid, which helps to refine pores, exfoliate, and encourage collagen production. It’s gentle on even the most sensitive of skin. Plus, yogurt’s consistency is pretty darn close to other, store-bought face masks.
Honey is kind of a wunderkid ingredient: it is a natural humectant, meaning it helps keep the skin soft and moisturized; it’s antimicrobial; and it’s also gentle enough for sensitive skin. Plus it helps all the other ingredients stick together (just like in your protein balls).
Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and citric acid, so it can help brighten and lighten your skin/
Almonds are a natural, biodegradable exfoliant that won’t harm the planet if you wash it down the sink.
