Tunes that inspire! Currently, my playlist is full of tunes for my group exercise class, and I have been teaching, studying, dancing, and singing along to: Catch & Release by Matt Simons; Middle by DJ Snake, and Greater Than by BASECAMP. For current podcasts, my top shows are, the feel good This American Life; entrepreneurial insp How I Built This; and professional development Thinking Like a Lawyer. Of course, my Trekz Titanium by AfterShokz are always along for the ride!
Give back! Throughout #BCA month, I will empower myself and others to get outside and exercise by running for YWCA with If Girls Ran the World! I’ve committed to running 50 miles. Since moving to Denver, I haven’t connected with volunteer organizations, but this month I am committing to volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House, my sorority’s charity, and discovering more opportunities to get connected with my new community.
Be a self care advocate! This is a hard one. With law school in full swing, my normal running and yoga routine has dropped to the wayside. Both are my ways to be present and mindful. Yesterday, after thirteen hours of studying and working, I mentally pushed myself out the door, yoga mat in hand, and had one of the best practices! I was holding handstands for over 30 seconds (at least), feeling my breath connect with each movement, and at the end questioned why I ever let my practice go to the back burner. No longer! This month, I’m committing to self care by yogaing-it-up at least four times a week.
Inspiring threads! My favorite fall threads come two-fold, with the two different wardrobes in my life: fitness and “normal people clothes,” as I like to call them. For fitness, I’m digging Lululemon’s High Time Pants. I like to sport high-rise pants and a sports bra for maximum flexibility! Plus, I’m a hot yoga freak, so it gets hot in there, and no one wants to deal with a sweat-soaked tank. For fall fashion threads, prAna’s new fall line is giving me heart-eyes!
Friends who inspire! The person who inspires me to run farther, faster, and stronger, yoga like its no one’s business, and find my inner #girlpower, is Jamie King! Jamie’s my strongest mentor and good friend. I’m very grateful to have her in my life and follow along her current adventure in Bali, where she is taking on her 300+ teacher training this October. The Sweat Pink team misses her so much!
