Today we have a special interview with Ivanna Baron, the awesome SPA who jump-started the Sweat Pink Chapter in Aurora, Colorado.
1. Tell us about YOU!
Hello, my name is Ivanna Baron. I am a certified personal trainer and healthy lifestyle blogger. I am most importantly a happy wife and proud mother of 2! I am also a 13 year Air Force Veteran. I’m originally from Texas and also spent a big chunk of my life in California. I currently live in Colorful Colorado where I enjoy a blessed and active life with my family.
2. What inspired you to start a Sweat Pink Chapter?
When I first separated from the Air Force, I wanted to dive straight in to the fitness industry. All I ever wanted to do was get out of the military and open my own studio and personal train full-time. I wanted to get my name out there in the fitness industry and gain support so I applied to be a Sweat Pink Ambassador shortly after I separated and I was accepted. At around that same time I started my own personal training business, I AMfitness Personal Training. I ran this mobile personal training business for over a year. I also ran a Bootcamp last summer, which was great.
Somewhere along the way, my passion for personal training changed and my heart simply was not in it. I believe the over-saturation in the industry, alongside the superficial undertones and lack of commitment from clients wore me down. In addition to these things, I simply was not making as much money as I needed to meet the financial responsibilities in my life. I was always the type of person that trained for the joy of it and to help people. Because of this, it was hard for me to charge super high rates, which affected my income.
Fast-forward to last summer after my 6-week bootcamp concluded; I decided to close the doors to I AMfitness personal training. After I did and announced I would no longer be training to my family, friends and clients, I continued to receive questions for health and fitness advice. I did not want to leave my supporters high and dry so after much thought and prayer I decided to change the direction of my involvement in the fitness industry. I decided to go from personal training to healthy lifestyle blogging and running a Sweat Pink Chapter. With this manner of involvement, I could still offer advice through writing and I could facilitate healthy lifestyles and activities through Sweat Pink Aurora, all while supporting small fitness businesses in the area as I once was. So that, my friends. is how Sweat Pink Aurora was born and I am super excited and blessed to run it.
3. What kinds of activities does your chapter do?
At Sweat Pink Aurora we attend fitness classes as a group, run together, hike together, volunteer together and more. We also try to have non- fitness meet-ups once a quarter to keep it fun.
4. What has been your Chapter’s most fun activity or event / biggest success to date?
Our largest most fun event so far was when we worked out together at Orange Theory Fitness. This was an intense workout but everyone showed up and enjoyed it.
5. What are your goals for your chapter?
My goals for Sweat Pink Aurora include growing and getting our name out there and to recruit more members over the next year. We want to spread health and wellness across the city of Aurora! We will be adding a running club to our chapter this spring and will be running the Colfax Half Marathon as a group in May.
6. What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a chapter?
The advice I would give someone who wants to open a chapter is to first think about why you want to have a chapter and what kind of chapter you want to be. Do you want to be your own business? Do you want to be like me and facilitate fitness? Do you want to be a bootcamp? Think about it first before jumping in to it. Also spread the word to your friends and family and try to get as many committed people involved as possible. Lastly, make it fun, keep it something that you look forward to doing and get to do, not have to do.
7. How can people get involved in your chapter?
Anyone that wants to join Sweat Pink Aurora can email me at email@example.com and like us on Facebook at http://facebook.com/sweatpinkaurora I will add him or her to our private Facebook group and keep them connected.
