We have hosted IDEA World BlogFest with Sweat Pink for 5 years and running, and every year it just gets better and better. This year was no exception: not only was it better, it was THE BEST!
And of course we were treated to some amazing food and healthy snacks!
- Yummy snacks from California Almonds and Being Better Matters
- Breakfast with Bell Institute
- Lunch with the National Dairy Council
In short, it was AMAZING!
If you want to experience BlogFest nearly minute-by-minute, check out the BlogFest 2018 Stories highlight reel on @fitapproach‘s Instagram! Jamie, Nic, and I highlight our favorite moments now:
Every year, I find myself saying the same exact thing: the absolute best part of BlogFest is the community. I look forward to seeing all of my favorite fitness friends each and every year for a jam packed weekend of learning, laughing, connecting, and of course, sweaty selfies. This year, I loved that influencers organized several fitness meet-ups before the event (a fun run with Marathon Kids and a SoulCycle workout) so that we could bond and get warmed up for our big weekend together. It was definitely an incredible way to come together and get to know new faces before sessions kicked off!
I also loved that a theme emerged from all of our amazing speakers; 2018 seems to be the year of authenticity and saying “no” to perfectionism. Personally, this is a theme that I can really relate to and get behind in a big way – I found myself nodding my head in agreement or bristling at the realization that I’ve been trying too hard to be perfect. From Petra Kolber, to Heidi Powell, and Chantal Brodrick, the message became clear to me – I just have to be me – and that’s all I can be. As a new mom figuring out this new chapter in my life, this message came at just the right time.Of course, every year the workouts are a highlight – they always leave us sweaty, laughing, and feeling inspired! This year, we worked out with coconuts (thank you Fit Bodies, Inc) and got our butts absolutely kicked with Frog Fitness and the mega circuit workout! I always appreciate how hard it is to walk the week after BlogFest.
And um, the SWAG. OMG, the SWAG. I was so EXCITED to receive a Kettlegryp, the best fitness travel companion I could ever imagine; I’m excited to make all of my hotel gym workouts even better. My new Trigger Point massage roller ball has already come in handy, soothing all of my sore, achey muscles, and my Haiku Mini RFID wallet has become my new best friend (it’s the perfect size for anyone who’s constantly on the move like me!). And of course all the delicious snacks and beverages – thanks to Be Better Matters, La Croix, JiMMYBAR! and California Almonds.
Since we’re on the topic of good eats – I have just a few words for you: chocolate chex. Thanks Bell Institute for yet another amazing BlogFest breakfast spread! You truly outdid yourselves…
And lastly….the outfits. Thank you prAna for styling us and making it easy to look good as we made our way from workouts to sessions and even parties!
This was my third year at BlogFest and it only gets better every year. Every year, I feel the Sweat Pink power, everyone’s different passions, and the friendships and connections grow so immensely.
BlogFest is nothing short of inspirational. From the speakers to the new brands to the knowledge and expertise of the influencers – I leave with my head spinning from learning, learning, and more learning.
In our influencer wheelhouse, we have professional food photographers, masters of SEO (did you catch Kristine Beatty‘s talk, y’all?), video content queens and kings (YES, Gigi, I’m ready for the camera!), fitness pros that are inclusive and open to learning new workouts, and overall brilliant and passionate people eager to grow their brand.
Speaking of workouts, BlogFest is THE BEST because we finally get to work out together IRL! Say what?! I spend possibly too much time watching and reading about my online friends’ workouts and I always want to be there, sweating with them. Having the opportunity to connect over a sweat date is the best way to build a friendship, in my opinion. You get the opportunity to work together, learn from one another, and have fun. Loved working out with Haley (so strong!) during the Train Frog Fit workout
A big thank you to everyone who made the trip to San Diego and brought their all to the conference – we can’t do this without your amazing energy. And of course, thank you to all our awesome sponsors who make the IRL experiences possible!
My favorite part of BlogFest is always all of the IRL reunions! All year long I get to watch some pretty inspiring people from afar. BlogFest is the amazing opportunity for us all to get together in one place at the same time.
It’s always an incredibly inspiring time, getting to bounce ideas off of and learning from each other. Sweating together without the barrier of a screen between us. And we always have the most amazing time! Plus, the sweaty hugs and selfies are always THE BEST!
Oh friends, how I missed you this year! I had a baby boy just four days before BlogFest kicked off, so even though a tiny part of me was trying to negotiate a way to be there (a high energy, always-on fitness convention is totally the place to be when you’re freshly postpartum, right?!), I knew deep down I was going to spend our 5th BlogFest at home, basking in the most intense FOMO I’ve ever experienced.
So, of course, I sat and stalked the #BlogFest hashtag during endless newborn cluster feeding. And honestly, I felt like I was right there with you all. #ThankYouIGStories
I loved seeing so many familiar faces, and meeting new ones. I feel like I got the Cliff’s Notes on all our sessions thanks to highlights on social media. And while y’all were sweating bullets during the Fit Bodies, Mega Circuit, and Frog Fitness workouts, I was calmly sipping a lemonade. In bed.
Do I wish I had been there? YES YES YES YES. Was living it virtually a passable, one-time alternative? Thanks to all of you sharing the experience on social, you bet. I felt like I was right there with you—now I just need to photoshop myself into all the pictures to prove it. 😉
Special shout out to our amazing sponsors for helping make this event the amazing experience that it is!! California Almonds, Be Better Matters, Bell Institute, Frog Fitness, Great Lakes Gelatin, La Croix, Haiku Bags, JiMMYBAR!, Kettyl Gryp, National Dairy Council, Resync, Fit Bodies Inc, and TriggerPoint.
