I received an email from one of my wonderful friends from Yoga School that made me smile from ear to ear. It was chock full of memories and experiences. And the more I read, the more my own experience came flooding out. I started to think about all the things I loved most and really miss. Here are my top ten:
1. The Food:
Hands down one of the best things about Yoga School was the food. Not only was it completely veggie (and most of the time totally vegan), but someone else was cooking and cleaning. I didn’t have to chop, cook, or wash one single dish while I was there. And even though I LOVE to cook, it was really nice to have a break from the kitchen. And don’t even get me started on the breakfast…while it was the exact same thing every single day, I freaking loved it. I loved it so much that I decided to recreate it at home and my boyfriend loves it too! Bananas and papaya topped with a mix of almonds, raisins, coconut, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and cinnamon. Delish.
2. Partner Yoga:
I am obsessed with partner yoga – its so fun to take flight, assist one another deeper into postures and basically just have a good time. What could be better than that? Now I just need to convince my boyfriend that he would love it as much as I do!
3. Hiking and running on the beach:
The photo says it all. Gorgeous!
One of the most magical experiences was seeing all of the whales, dolphins and rays jumping and playing so close to shore. I saw at least one creature every single day while I was there and each time was as breathtaking as the first time. My iPhone couldn’t zoom in…so you’ll have to enjoy the crabs, blowfish skeleton and amazingly peaceful seabird and save the dolphins, whales and rays for your imagination.
5. The Sunsets
6. Getting inverted
I’m a headstand, forearm stand and handstand junkie. Get upside down? YES PLEASE.
Ok, so this is technically food…but it needs its own category. I think one of the things I miss most is the fresh passion fruit. Like little shots of fruity (tangy) goodness!
8. Sleeping under the stars
One of the most amazing nights at Yoga School was the night of the Vision Quest which we got to spend sleeping on the beach…and under the big, beautiful star filled sky. I have no words.
9. The Garden
Seriously, Yandara has one of the most amazing gardens…EVER. A peaceful place to study, walk, and just hang out!
10. Spontaneous Song, Dance and Laughter!!
I don’t even know how to do this justice with a description. There was so much song and dance…and laughter! We had a whole night dedicated to free dance – I got to bust out the worm, the sprinkler, cartwheels, back walk overs, The Cabbage Patch, Roger Rabbit…and all without judgment. We spent a whole evening singing along with the guitar AND yet another night doing our own made up Chi Gong dancing…you just had to be there. 😉
